The federation of the world
Back in 1842 the English poet Tennyson wrote a poem called Locksley Hall which had
a vision for the future of the world in which wars ceased and the world joined together
In the Parliament of man, the Federation of the world. A book by Dr Stanley Monteith
Brotherhood of Darkness traces a line of powerful men who have taken this vision
to heart and sought to bring it to pass in a world government.
One who embraced Tennyson’s vision was Edward Bellamy, who advocated socialism and
world government in 1888 in a book entitled Looking Backward: 2000-1887. This is
a story of a young man who falls asleep after taking a sleeping potion in 1887 and
wakes up in 2000. In his book he foresees The nation organised as the one great business
corporation in which all other corporations were absorbed; it became the one capitalist
in the place of all other capitalists, the sole employer, the final monopoly in which
all previous and lesser monopolies were swallowed up, a monopoly in the profits and
economies of which all citizens shared.
Is the world moving in this direction today? At the present time in human history
there is a great economic crisis which has the potential to cause the world to fall
apart into chaos as countries go bankrupt and law and order collapse completely.
This could lead to a totalitarian society as emergency powers backed by force are
brought in to control the situation. Alternatively it could come together as world
leaders seek for a global solution to global problems. This could also lead to a
totalitarian society by another route as they save the world by establishing some
kind of global governance which cannot be voted out of power.
What is interesting is that the economic structure of societies in both east and
west is coming to resemble that state capitalist system which Bellamy wrote about.
The upheavals in the communist world brought the end of the Soviet Union in 1991
and the former communist countries of eastern Europe joined the EU. China turned
its back on Maoist communism to adopt a mixture of communism and capitalism backed
by the strong centralised state which has proved very successful economically. In
effect the communist countries became more capitalist. Now as a result of the present
upheavals the western capitalist countries are becoming more socialist, with the
governments taking a stake in the banks which is the first stage towards state control.
A recent report by the National Intelligence Council in the USA entitled Global Trends:
A World Transformed said that Today wealth is moving not just from West to East but
is concentrating more under state control, giving the examples of China and Russia.
In the wake of the 2008 global financial crisis, the states role in the economy may
be gaining more appeal throughout the world.
Of particular relevance to the present world crisis is a book by Professor Carroll
Quigley, Tragedy and Hope, a history of the world in our time. Carroll Quigley was
a university professor who taught at Georgetown University. His book was published
by Macmillan in 1966 but then the book was withdrawn despite thousands of people
ordering copies of it. He wrote: The powers of financial capitalism had another far
reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in
private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy
of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion
by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived
at in frequent private meetings and agreements. Each central bank sought to dominate
its government by its ability to control Treasury loans, to manipulate foreign exchanges,
to influence the level of economic activity in the country and to influence cooperative
politicians by subsequent economic rewards in the business world. (p 324).
In Brotherhood of Darkness Dr Monteith shows how cooperative politicians from both
left and right wing parties were put into positions of power and then rewarded for
their efforts. Large western banks like JP Morgan helped to fund the Bolsheviks in
setting up the Soviet Union in Russia, an unlikely alliance of capitalism and communism.
He quotes President Roosevelt who wrote in a letter in 1933 I had a nice chat with
Jack Morgan (founder of JP Morgan) the other day. The real truth of the matter is,
as you and I know, that a financial element in the larger centres has owned the government
ever since the days of Andrew Jackson (US President 1829-1837).
Dr Monteith also outlines a number of organisations where powerful men meet like
the Club of Rome, the Bilderbergers, the Trilateral Commission and the Council on
Foreign Relations. Some of the wealthiest and most powerful men in the world belong
to the Club of Rome. In 1999 their Internet site stated that their objective is to
act as an international non-official catalyst of change.
The present head of the Club of Rome is Prince Hassan, brother of the late King Hussein
of Jordan. As a moderate Muslim he has friendly relations with the Pope and world
religious leaders. He promotes multi-culturalism and inter-faith dialogue as the
answer to intolerance and religious hatred in the world. For the sake of peace, Prince
Hassan proposes the creation of a set of moral principles founded on human solidarity.
(Speech given at Soka University, Japan 24/8/08).
Bringing faiths together to serve the interests of globalisation is an important
part of this programme This means that those who believe their faith is the one way
to God, be they evangelical Christians or radical Muslims, are an obstacle to progress.
Tony Blair is one man with such a mission. On May 30 2008 he set up The Tony Blair
Faith Foundation, which, among other things, is dedicated to proving that collaboration
among those of different religious faiths can help address some of the worlds most
pressing social problems. Faith is part of our future, Blair says, and faith and
the values it brings with it are an essential part of making globalisation work.
(Note that his idea of faith is that it should be a servant of globalisation.)
In the light of Carroll Quigley’s statement that cooperative politicians are given
subsequent economic rewards in the business world, it is interesting to note that
Tony Blair is being paid up to $5 million a year for his role as a senior adviser
to the US investment bank JP Morgan (BBC report in January 2008). He is advising
JP Morgan, on the political and economic changes brought about by globalisation!
The powers shaping the world system know which politicians can further their efforts
and which ones will hinder them. By using the media and the education system they
can shape the thinking of the average person so they will vote for the people they
want in power. No doubt that Tony Blair has served their purpose and is now being
rewarded for this. From the way the media in the USA and even around the world backed
Barack Obama, it would seem that he is the one they want as President of the USA.
What is also remarkable about the present banking and economic crisis is the extent
to which it is bringing together nations and economies around the world to seek for
a solution. IMF (International Monetary Fund) director, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, described
it as global problem which needs a global response. European Commission President
Barroso said, We need to change the current crisis into a new opportunity. We
need a new deal for a new world. There have been calls for a new global monetary
order from leaders around the world, like French President Sarkozy, Chinese Prime
Minister Wen Jiabao and Brazilian President Lula.
In an interview on Sky TV on 18/11/08 European Central Bank President Jean-Claude
Trichet said that the planet was much more united than is imagined by most people
and spoke of the extraordinary cooperation which has been going on between central
banks, the Bank of England, Federal Reserve, European Central Bank, Bank of Japan
etc. He said a lot of work on tackling the crisis had been done by the International
Monetary Fund and the Financial Stability Forum before the G20 summit in Washington
on 15-17 November. This involved cooperation between central banks of China, Russia,
Brazil, Mexico, India and other emerging countries.
He said the crisis was solvable by joint efforts of authorities and certainly central
banks, governments and ... also the private sector has an essential role to play,
of course, to get out of that situation. It was solvable at the level of the planet
because we are all in the same boat. He was asked about whether the crisis meant
Britain should join the Euro currency. He did not give a direct answer but the clear
implication of his message was that countries in the Euro zone will be better off
than those outside it.
The summit of G20 leaders in Washington in November indicated a shift in the global
power structure to include developing countries in governing the world economy. Brazilian
President Lula said developing countries need to learn from the crisis to construct
a new world economic order. The economic crisis has accelerated moves toward breaking
the stranglehold the United States has had on the world of finance. There is a new
reality, says United Nations General Secretary Ban Ki Moon, new centres of power
and leadership in Asia, Latin America, and across the newly developed world. German
Finance Minister Peer Steinbruck said. The U.S. will lose its status as the superpower
of the worlds financial system. This world will become multi-polar, the world will
never be the same again.
Writing about the financial crisis US investigator Gary Kah points out that the US
administration has to deal with an enormous debt of over $10 trillion as well as
bailing out its financial institutions. He says the funds for doing this are drying
up. The fact is our government is almost as broke as the institutions it is trying
to assist. It is in no position to help. The obvious next question is, Who will bail
out the U.S. Government when it goes broke? Once the current system has become completely
undone, I believe a new system will be proposed as the solution. It will include
some form of global government based on regional economic arrangements, similar to
the European Union and the proposed North American Union. Global planners have long
understood there cant be a new one-world system until the old order has failed.
Such a new world economic order will inevitably lead to a loss of democratic accountability
of those in power. Gordon Brown has talked of the need for a new international financial
architecture and enhanced global co-operation to monitor and then supervise financial
flows that know no borders. The need for new regulations and regulators to govern
international affairs can only be put in place by some body having international
authority. Who gives it this authority? Who can vote it out of power if it makes
decisions which are wrong?
Today we see power concentrating in international organisations like the IMF and
the G7 group of countries. The G7 or Group of 7 is the meeting of finance ministers
from seven industrialised nations, France, Germany, Italy, the UK, Japan, the USA
and Canada. Since 1998 Russia has been admitted to G8 meetings. As the balance of
power and wealth is now shifting this means that rising economies of China, India,
Brazil and the Islamic countries feel left out such meetings which affect all nations.
Also four of these countries (France, Germany, Italy and the UK) are in the EU, and
two of them (USA and Canada) are in North America. It is not impossible to see a
call for a G10 group consisting of the EU, North America, South America, Russia,
China, Japan, India, Middle East Islamic countries, Africa and Australasia.
In the Revelation we read of a group of ten in the end time situation: The ten horns
which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive
authority for one hour with the beast. These are of one mind and they will give their
power and authority to the beast. These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb
will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are
with Him are called, chosen and faithful. Revelation 17.12-14.
John is writing of 10 kings who have no power at the time when he is writing Revelation
(during the Roman Empire around 95 AD). They are to emerge in the future and have
power for a short period of time. This will be an unstable alliance in Daniel chapter
2 it is described as the feet of iron and clay on the image which represents the
world system from Babylon to the end of days. The 10 toes of the image are its final
phase: And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the
image will be partly strong and partly fragile. Daniel 2.42. In our time we see the
mingling of capitalism and communism, dictatorship and democracy, in the final phase
of the world system.
The 10 kings will give their power to one world leader who emerges in the last days
known as the beast or antichrist. This one will be given power by the dragon / Satan
and will have a global empire which will be anti-Christian: So they worshipped the
dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who
is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him? And he was given a mouth speaking
great things and blasphemies and he was given authority to continue for forty two
months. And it was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them.
And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue and nation. Revelation 13.4-7.
The beast will control the world economic system through a new means of buying and
selling: He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive
a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell
except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast for
it is the number of a man. His number is 666. Revelation 13.16-18. But his war against
the Lamb (the Lord Jesus) will end in his total defeat when Jesus returns at the
end of the age: Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven
saying, The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdom of our Lord and of His
Messiah / Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever! Revelation 11.15.
As the time of the last days comes upon the earth, God is calling for people to repent
and believe the Gospel, that Jesus is the Saviour who shed His blood and died as
a sacrifice for our sins and rose again from the dead and that through faith in Him
we are saved from the judgement that is coming on the earth. Those who are saved
through the blood of Jesus have a glorious future with the Lord: For the Lord Himself
will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the
trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive will
be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus
we will always be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4.16-17.
This is the only hope for this world. The attempt to solve the problems of the world
in the last days will bring total failure and ruin as the events of the great tribulation
unfold. As we see the world getting nearer to this time we must make sure now that
we have the salvation which Jesus is offering us. If you are not sure if you are
saved, get in touch with us and we will send you information which will help you
find salvation and eternal life.
