Uniting the world
The United States and the European Union signed up to a new transatlantic economic
partnership at a summit in Washington on May 7th. The pact is designed to boost trade
and investment by harmonising regulatory standards, laying the basis for a US-EU
single market. The two sides agreed to set up an ‘economic council’ to push ahead
with regulatory convergence in nearly 40 areas, including intellectual property,
financial services, business takeovers and the motor industry. German Chancellor
Angela Merkel, whose country holds the EU’s rotating presidency, said that if the
US and EU could set business norms today, they would ‘secure the markets of tomorrow’.
Although this agreement received little attention in the media there is evidence
that it is part of a much bigger scheme to bring about a North American Union similar
to the EU as another step along the plan for world government. This would involve
replacing the dollar with a new currency known as the Amero for North America, linking
this to the Euro and then bringing Asian powers into line with a world currency and
a world government projected for around 2018.
The EU has long been used as a tool for globalisation by a gradual takeover of the
role of national government. This has been done by harmonising all areas of life,
economic, social, cultural and environmental, under an all encompassing monolithic
authority over the entire region. Despite opposition from most of their voters, national
leaders are even now seeking to implement by stealth areas of the EU Constitution
which would undermine the ability of member states to opt out of EU laws, effectively
ending national sovereignty. They are also pushing for Brussels to be given a full
time unelected president who would serve a five year term and speak as the voice
of Europe on the world stage.
France’s new president, Nicolas Sarkozy, has proposed the setting up of a ‘Mediterranean
Union’ led by Turkey alongside the EU. This would be an alternative to Turkey’s bid
for full EU membership, and would involve forming a loose grouping of 16 countries
bordering the Mediterranean Sea, with Turkey to be the backbone of the club. Under
Mr Sarkozy’s plan, the group – in order to tie southern Europe with Israel and its
Arab neighbours – would form an EU-like council with a rotating presidency and deal
with topical issues such as energy, security, counter-terrorism, immigration and
In addition to the EU, an agenda for a North American Union is now well on course
according to the internal policy documents of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR),
an unelected organisation which serves the interests of globalisation in North America.
The CFR’s document, ‘Building a North American Community‘, recommends that private
bodies be formed to direct policy between Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
Very much like the EU, the progress towards a North American Union began with free
trade agreements such as NAFTA and GATT. This was followed by the ‘Security and Prosperity
Partnership’ treaty, which has been described as ‘an international framework for
trilateral and bilateral cooperation in North America’. This agreement was carried
out without being agreed by the US Congress. Journalist Jerome Corsi obtained documents
relating to this treaty which show its activities towards creating a Pan American
Union. The documents show that a wide range of US administrative law is being re-written
by stealth under this program to ‘integrate’ and ‘harmonise’ with administrative
law in Mexico and Canada. This follows the same pattern as has happened in the EU.
Corsi also reported that at a recent high-level conference in Banff, Canada, an assistant
U.S. secretary of state, Thomas A. Shannon, chaired a panel that featured a presentation
by Prof. Robert Pastor, author of a book promoting the development of a North American
union as a regional government and the creation of a single currency along the lines
of the Euro, known as the Amero to replace the dollar and the peso.
This push for economic and political union is a major step along the road to global
governance. Talk has long been of a global currency by 2018 if plans go accordingly.
In 1988 a famous cover of The Economist emphasised this, depicting a phoenix standing
on top of burning paper money symbolising its rise out of their destruction. Next
to it were the words ‘Get ready for a world currency.’
This article entitled ‘Get Ready for the Phoenix’ stated that, ‘Thirty years from
now, Americans, Japanese, Europeans, and people in many other rich countries, and
some relatively poor ones will probably be paying for their shopping with the same
currency.’ The article went on to point out that sovereignty will be lost with the
advent of the new currency, but that trends towards globalisation are already doing
away with it anyway.
In 2004 Robert Mundell, the Nobel-prize winning economist often credited with paving
the way to the European single currency, called for a global currency. In an interview
with French paper Libération, Mundell said: ‘With the emergence of the euro and its
instability against the dollar, Europe, the United States and the Asian powers should
come together and create a new international monetary system. It appears we are now
seeing the slow realisation of a global economic system with a single currency. The
end game of this is of course a global government.
The Bible points to such a world government emerging in the last days of this age
during the Great Tribulation period. A dynamic world leader known as the beast will
appear at this time offering peace and safety at a time of great confusion and peril.
In fact he will lead the world to the final holocaust and world war. In Revelation
chapter 13 we read how he will gain world power: ‘And all the world marvelled and
followed the beast. So they worshipped the dragon (i.e. the Devil) who gave authority
to the beast, and they worshipped the beast saying, ‘Who is like the beast? Who is
able to make war against him?’ And he was given a mouth speaking great things and
blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty two months. … It was
granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was
given him over every tribe, tongue and nation.’ Revelation 13.3-7. With the help
of his accomplice, the false prophet, he will enforce an economic control system
known as the mark of the beast without which no one will be able to buy or sell.
His brief misrule will come to an end with the glorious coming to the earth of the
Lord Jesus with all His saints. When this happens the ‘kingdoms of this world’ will
become ‘the kingdom of our God and of His Messiah and He shall reign for ever and
ever.’ Revelation 11.15. Now is the time to choose salvation through Jesus the true
Messiah, who will come again in power and glory to judge the world righteously. World
history is rapidly moving into its final phase. Don’t be left behind without Jesus
as the trials of the last days come upon us.
